About the Course
Diddy Dance is ballet-based creative movement class for children aged from 2 ½ to school age where we combine storytelling with creative movement and music. It is designed to encourage children to move their bodies to music and use their imagination to develop the stories we tell.
This class is a fantastic pre-cursor to formal dance training as it develops the physical and cognitive skills required for dance.
What do we do in class...
All classes start with our Gerry and Ginger song. Gerry and Ginger are our class mascots and their song is used as a warm up and a signal that class has begun.
After the song we read story to the class, this maybe a pirate adventure, a trip to fairy school or the toy museum, or maybe the jungle or the beach. After we have read the story we will enact the story to music using our creative movement and imagination to row about across the sea, learn to fly with the fairies, swing through the trees with a monkey or build sandcastles on the beach. We will use each story for a half term to enable students to become familiar with the story and movements.
At the end of each class we will gather round for our reverence (our curtsey or bow) and thank everyone for joining together for the class.
